ASCAP/COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY FILM SCORING WORKSHOP (NYC)

Aaron has been selected as the top 30 composer as part of the 2014 ASCAP/Columbia University Film Scoring Workshop (NYC).

Columbia University Film School opens the workshop to its graduate film school students (approx 65) who have the opportunity to submit their films. Four films, approximately 15-30 minutes in length, and the Columbia University Film Festival Trailer are selected. ASCAP curates an online Spotlight of 30 film composers and the 5 filmmakers each hire a composer from this group to score their full film. Alex Steyermark (Columbia Univ faculty; director, One Last Thing, Prey For Rock & Roll; music supervisor for directors Ang Lee, Spike Lee, etc.) guides the filmmakers through the process of finding the right composer, then the filmmaker-composer teams through spotting the film, presentations and critiques of the score-in-progress and preparations for the scoring and mixing sessions. The scoring sessions are at MSR Recording Studios with 15 players. All the films screen at the annual Columbia University Film Festival.
